๐ฌ๐ง Introduction to "Oltre i Confini", Leopoldo Lagrimosa's blog
Hi everyone!
My name is Leopoldo Lagrimosa and I’m a 29 year old teacher with a passion for traveling. I’m not a writer; I’ve never written a newspaper article in my life; I’m not a SEO expert, but I decided to create this blog to put into words all the emotions that the journeys I’ve taken and lived have given me. I won’t worry about formalities, I’ll simply let my heart speak.
Over the past year and a half, traveling has become a true calling for me. So far, I’ve visited only 16 countries in my life: Italy, Vatican City, Greece, France, Monaco, San Marino, Spain, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Tรผrkiye, Slovenia, Romania, Poland, Albania and Tanzania. Except for my experience in Tanzania, which ended this past August 2nd and left a deep mark on me, I had never traveled outside Europe. So I can say that I only know a small part of the world. In other words, I believe that planet Earth is far too big to limit ourselves to knowing just a small portion of it. Every place has its own identity, culture and traditions and my dream is to experience as many different ways of life as possible so that I can later share them. It’s certainly a challenging project to bring to life, but the launch of “Oltre i Confini” represents the foundation of the building I hope to construct. Today, I see this blog as a sort of public journal where I can write about my emotions. However, I don’t presume to know what kind of building will eventually rise from it, because none of us has the power to know what tomorrow will bring. I’ve learned to love uncertainties, because life is full of them. I’ve learned that nothing is permanent and that everything evolves. Life is like a river that flows fiercely and I simply want to flow with it, in harmony with everything life has to offer me. I’m someone who feels moved by a sunrise or a sunset. I’ve learned to appreciate and respect nature, because rather than placing myself above it, I feel like I’m part of it. “We are children of the stars” is not just a saying; it’s a fact. From supernovae come the chemical elements like oxygen, silicon, phosphorus and iron, which are the seeds for the formation of planets and the raw material of living organisms. This scientific fact has led me to appreciate more what nature offers rather than what is the result of human activity. Therefore, for me, the best and most educational travel experiences are those that allow the traveler to be in contact with nature as much as possible. I used the adjective “educational” because I believe that, regarding respect for nature, humans still have a lot to learn: unfortunately, human greed has created serious threats to the ecosystem, so greater awareness on this matter is undoubtedly necessary.

Being sensitive is rarely considered a value in a highly competitive and productivity focused system like the one in which we Europeans have been shaped, but from this point of view, “Oltre i Confini” also represents an act of rebellion.
As a traveler, I feel I still have a lot to learn, but it would be wonderful if this blog, in addition to being an opportunity to improve my writing skills, could also become an expression of this personal growth process. I don’t want to speak to readers as a tourist, but as a traveler. When I travel, I like to spend most of my time with the local people of the places I visit, immersing myself in their way of life, because in this way, not only can one experience an alternative lifestyle, but one can also learn to accept and respect a way of living that may differ from one’s own. After all, the world is beautiful because it is diverse. Just imagine how boring a world made up entirely of clones would be.
